Emergent Works Code Mentorship
I volunteer with Emergent Works, an organization that creates life-changing opportunities in technology for people impacted by incarceration.
I was a mentor with the 2019-2020 fellowship, where I taught an amazing group of formerly incarcerated and justice involved individuals how to code. Over 15 weeks, they learned how to build products with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, how to collaborate in teams with git and Github, how to customize their setup using bash, how to apply principles of lean product development, and so much more.
I continue to be involved with Emergent Works to collaborate on special projects.
I volunteer with Hack Club, an organization that brings together high school hackers from across the globe. In 2023 I did an AMA with a group of amazing high schoolers, and I am continually impressed by how intelligent, ambitious, and insightful this group is. Jump at the chance to meet them if you get it!
